Native Tech is Aotearoa New Zealand’s newest academy for learners wanting to explore digital and creative tech. Our current NZQA accredited programmes offer training which help young people connect with local knowledge and global opportunities, allowing them a space and place to access essential job skills, support, mentorship, pastoral care and a sense of belonging while illuminating pathways into the IT/digital/creative tech workforce.

pathway illumination and belonging.
Explore character design and development, programming/coding, narrative storytelling, graphic design, artificial intelligence,
content creation, 3D asset development, 3D printing and game development
Our current programme is for 16-24 year olds* who are wanting to explore digital and creative tech and
haven’t been in work or study or who want guidance to work through where to go next. This programmes staircases into our NZQA approved Level 1-3 programme (each 20 weeks, 60 credits).

This programme is free. 20 weeks (including 4 weeks break).
*This programme is zero fees (which means you can get “fees free” in the future if eligible)
all related tech and software will be provided onsite and there is no cost to withdraw.
Entry Requirements
Ages 16-24
*15 year olds will be considered but they must have an Early Learning Exemption from MOE to enroll.

Located in the heart of Rotorua, Native Tech is Digital Natives Academy's most innovative programme to date providing 1,170 sqm of space alongside high spec computers, VR heatsets and expert mentors and navigators working with young people to help illuminate education, career and training pathways.

For our pre-qualification programme, learners should be 16-24 and based in Rotorua. No previous experience is needed but an interest in digital and creative tech (game dev, video editing, drawing, esports, gaming, design, art, photography, business) is important. For entry requirements for our accredited programmes, please view our course prospectus.
Our programme runs from 10am-4pm, Monday - Friday (with afternoons open for projects) and Fridays for wellbeing. The programme is 20 weeks long (with 4 weeks of holiday time). There will be 2 intakes each year.
No cost, our programme is free.
